Cotswold Dry Stone Walling Beginners Courses & Improvers Course at Notgrove for 2025

Here at Notgrove in the heart of the Cotswold’s we were delighted this summer’s dry stone walling beginners and improvers courses were so well received and attended.

With inquiries already coming in for our 2025 dry stone walling courses we thought you’d like to know we have launched the dates for next year as follows:

Beginners Dry Stone Walling Course Dates:

Improvers Dry Stone Walling Course Date:

25^th & 26^th September

The beginners and Improvers dry stone walling courses are over two days and you’re receive expert instruction from Dry Stone Walling Association (DSWA) instructor Richard Gray.

Cotswold Beginners Dry Stone Walling Courses

The beginners dry stone walling courses are suitable for all ages from 16 years old and over, no prior experience is needed and are perfect for anyone looking to repair or build their own stone wall in their garden, drive or field. This course is the first steps towards the DSWA Craftsman Certification, the only industry recognised and NVQ equivalent qualification for dry stone walling.

During the course you’ll learn about dismantling walls, stone sorting, laying foundations, building up of the wall, adding through stones and coping stones, dressing the stone, different types of stone, the necessary tools and how to use them, and much more!

Cotswold Improvers Dry Stone Walling Course

The Dry Stone Walling Improvers Course is also run by Richard over two days but is only suitable for those who have already been on the beginners course or have prior dry stone walling experience. The course is aimed at those looking for a more in-depth knowledge of dry stone walling such as retained walls or those looking to become a dry stone waller and the courses are tailored around the requirements of those who attend.

Price of a Two Day Dry Stone Walling Course

The Beginners Dry Stone Walling Courses are £199 per person and the Improver Dry Stone Walling Courses are £250 per person.

All tools and equipment are provided but you’ll need to bring your own lunch and suitable clothing and footwear for being outside.
