Harry and Diana’s Favourite Cycle Route.

Harry, Kate and Lucy

Want a nice and simple bike ride?

Then Harry and Diana have shared one of their favourite cycle routes!

By living in Notgrove we are lucky enough to find ourselves living not only a stunningly beautiful area but one that is crisscrossed by tiny roads which provide near perfect cycle routes across the whole of this area of Gloucestershire.  The Cotswold Hills are aptly named, however, and once you’re on your bike you have to accept that there are as many steep climbs up as there are decents.
A short cycle to Guiting Power is one of our favourite routes, despite the hills, and on your arrival in the picturesque village, you’ll find a welcome stop at the Guiting Power Post Office Cafe, famed for it’s doorstop bacon butties and mugs of strong tea.
It’s only 4.2 miles from Notgrove and here’s the route which is easy to find:
From the Village Farm holiday cottage entrance turn right and follow the road around the bend to the crossroads ahead.  Taking care crossing the fast A436 go straight over signposted Aylworth.  Enjoy the steep descent before puffing up the hill on the far side of the valley.  At the next crossroads again go straight over signposted for Guiting Power and Kineton.  Decent a long hill before turning right at the end, following the road for another 1/2 mile where you turn left for Guiting Power.  As you enter the village you will see the Norman church of St Michael’s which is also worth a visit.  Otherwise, carry on into the village centre and you will find the cafe on the right-hand side of the village green.
