Notgrove Holidays – your perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds
Here in an area bounded by Bath, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon you’ll find some of the finest landscapes in England. Cotswold towns and villages such as Burford, Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water are world famous and remain largely unchanged since their creation in medieval England centuries ago. This was when the wealth of the wool trade left its mark in the high quality stone buildings for which the area is renowned.
Notgrove itself lies in the heart of the Cotswolds, only 4 miles from Northleach, famed for its magnificent church of St Peter and St Paul which is claimed to be the “Cathedral of the Cotswolds”. Nearby, the River Windrush flows through the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water, creating a very picturesque village scene.
At nearly 800ft, Stow-on-the-Wold is the highest of the Cotswold towns and is famous as a centre for antiques. The Roman Fosse Way from Cirencester to Leicester passes through it and it probably dates from a prehistoric fortified settlement on top of the hill.
Should you decide to stay for a few days in one of our holiday cottages you will find plenty of places to visit and sites to see in these market towns, quiet villages and hamlets. If you would like to book a cottage please click here

An absolute little gem! Our two nights stay was just the perfect country break we were looking for. The location and the pod was beautiful and peaceful. Despite the rain, the pod was warm and cozy. Everything needed was provided. Seeing the alpacas and sheep was a lovely bonus!- Sultana
Lovely stay in their Lapwing tent. 100% would recommend, beautiful countryside, lovely village, and short drives to some lovely Cotswold villages.- Joseph
Hi! We had a fantastic time staying in Hazelnut Barn this past weekend. Our family were there to celebrate our elder son’s 40th birthday and all of us were impressed by the quality of the place. You really do provide everything a family could need for their stay, especially all the provisions you make for a baby/young child. The furnishings were amazing, the beds super comfortable, and the design and layout of the barn was so good we all kept saying we wished we could live there! It really did feel like a home from home and we would definitely recommend Notgrove to our friends and relatives. We’re already thinking of another reason to make a return visit to you! Thank you for providing such a lovely place to relax, unwind and spend time with our nearest and dearest. Anne – Hazlenut Barn
Our stay at the pods was brilliant. The pod was more spacious than I had imagined, there was plenty of space to move around and handy storage underneath the bed for luggage. It was stocked with all the basics that you need and even had underfloor heating to stay cosy. The pods are in the middle of nowhere, really peaceful and quiet. There are plenty of walks around, and they are only a 5 minute drive from Bourton-on-the-Water. We went to The Plough Inn a couple of times, a classic country pub and it was excellent. A couple of minutes’ drive or 30 minute walk. The farm has alpacas, goats, donkeys, sheep and even highland cows. Really lovely to have them immediately outside of the pods. Although the pods are all in a row, there are bushes or fences separating them, so it felt very private. – Lauren
We came to stay at the safari tents for my partners birthday, it is the perfect location for a rural retreat but only a stones throw from the quaint little town of Bourton-on-the-water. I would definitely recommend staying at the safari tents again. – Sam
Lovely place in a quiet rural location but within walking distance of a cafe and great pub. Walks are possible from the property too. Ideal for children with a games room and field for football etc on site. – Linda, Walnut Barn
It really was a nice experience that we shared with our children, everything was excellent, both the cabin and everything around it. I highly recommend the place if you are nature lovers, the ideal is to stay at least two nights to take advantage of the walks. We definitely hope to return soon . – Brandon
When we arrived, our tent was clean and cozy. We enjoyed the rustic setting and our kids enjoyed playing on the playground and in the playroom. Even though it was midsummer, it got chilly at night and we were glad that the blankets were warm. The included space heater is also very effective at heating the living area and I recommend getting some firewood to burn in the log burner. Our kids enjoyed visiting the farm area, which had donkeys, goats, sheep, and alpacas. The location is nowhere, but also right in the middle of the Cotswold area so it is convenient as a base for sightseeing in the area. I would recommend the tents for anyone visiting the Cotswolds in summer and looking for a rustic experience. – Mike
We had an amazing time at Notgrove. It was perfect for our lively grandsons. The football pitch was a hit and so close to the barn. They loved Mr Bean and all the other animals. The accommodation worked well for us, Hazelnut barn was our communal area. The kitchen was well equipped . All in all, it was perfect for our family get together. The village is so pretty and there is so much to do in the area. I have recommended your property to our friends. We had guests who visited us, they were very impressed with the facilities. Hope to see you again in the future. – Angela, The Grove
