 Notgrove to support Donkathon.

Notgrove Holidays to support Polly Vacher MBE and her two donkeys in there Donkathon.

Notgrove Holidays is delighted to announce that we will be sponsoring one of the world’s top female pilots, Polly Vacher MBE and her two donkeys, Wizard and Muffin, on their Donkathon to support Multiple Sclerosis Research through The Multiple Sclerosis Society this summer.

Polly plans to take her two donkeys, on a 200-mile adventure starting in South Oxfordshire on 25th June 2021 and ending up in North Wales a month later to raise money for the MS Research.  Her nephew has MS.

Polly has previously flown solo, twice around the world, in a single-engine aircraft, including over the North pole and the Antarctic. She raised over £500,000 for the charity, ‘Flying Scholarships for Disabled People’.

Donkeys, Wizard and Muffin, live with Polly and her husband Peter near Oxford. Whilst in hospital following her unsuccessful eye operation which meant she could no longer fly, Polly received a card from Christine Browne, the Guardian of St Melangell in Powys, North Wales. ‘Donkathon’, the idea of driving her donkeys to St Melangell, was born.

Starting in late June 2021, the journey is expected to take four to five weeks, covering a maximum of 10 miles a day. Polly is encouraging people to get involved with the journey, particularly those with MS who may wish to ride along for a day, and anyone who might like to help in some way.

On 30th June, Polly and her team will be travelling the 9.9 miles from Little Barrington to Notgrove, arriving at the Nuttery Café at around teatime.  Notgrove Holidays will be accommodating her and her team, as well as providing stabling for her donkeys, Wizard and Muffin, overnight.  Then travel with Polly the next day with their own donkeys in support of her great effort.

On leaving Notgrove they will all journey the 4.5 miles to Kineton.

Notgrove Holidays is supporting Donkathon because we believe it is important to help and support disabled people and families with disabled members and have purposely built our holiday cottages, so they are suitable for disabled guests to stay in.

Notgrove Holidays has 4-holiday cottages with en-suite bathrooms.  Each cottage has at least one bedroom and en-suite shower room or bathroom on the ground floor designed so they can accommodate people with disabilities and those needing wheelchair access. The beds can also be removed to accommodate medical beds when needed.  There are no steps into the properties and the downstairs living and kitchen areas are all open plan and spacious. This enables families and small groups of all ages and abilities to come on holiday together.
