Dog-Friendly Days Out Near Bourton-on-the-Water 🐾
At Notgrove Holidays, we know dogs are part of the family — and a Cotswold getaway just wouldn’t be complete without them. Luckily, our local area is packed with fantastic dog-friendly attractions, walks, and places to eat that both you and your four-legged friend will love.
Here are some of our favourite spots to explore together:
- Bourton-on-the-Water Village
Just a few minutes from Notgrove, Bourton-on-the-Water is famous for its pretty stone bridges and riverside charm. Most of the village welcomes dogs — you’ll find pup-friendly cafés, tearooms, and pub gardens galore. Take a stroll along the river, stop for a coffee at The Croft Restaurant, or enjoy a pint at The Olde New Inn, both of which happily welcome dogs.
- The Cotswold Motoring Museum
A quirky favourite right in the heart of Bourton! This nostalgic museum is dog-friendly throughout, so you and your pooch can wander through vintage cars, classic memorabilia, and even spot Brum — the famous TV car.
- Greystones Farm Nature Reserve
Managed by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, this peaceful nature reserve offers miles of dog-friendly trails through wildflower meadows and along the riverbank. Perfect for gentle walks, picnics, and spotting wildlife (on lead, of course!).
- Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (Burford)
About a 20-minute drive from Notgrove, this is one of the most dog-friendly attractions in the UK. Dogs on leads are welcome throughout the park and gardens — you can even stroll past giraffes, rhinos, and zebras together! (They’re only excluded from the bat house, café, and children’s play area.)
🍰 5. Dog-Friendly Pubs & Cafés
The Cotswolds is bursting with dog-loving spots to eat and drink. Try The Plough at Cold Aston (just down the road from Notgrove), a classic Cotswold pub with great food and water bowls by the fire. Or head to Bakery on the Water in Bourton for a slice of cake and a wagging tail welcome.
